Earlier if people were to come to the Hualien Sugar Factory, they will drive to Hualien and then ask how to goto the Hualien Sugar Factory. They have no idea to get off at Guangfu and often go pass it. This is because in the normal naming, there is no “Guangfu sugar factory”such phrase. There is only the Hualien Sugar Factory. Therefore, people do miss the stop and go pass it without noticing. Hopping of the Guangfu Station, we will go into Wenhua Road to the sugar factory.
Why isn’t the factory called Guangfu Sugar Factory but Hualien factory? The answer is： the final decision is to use the biggest area naming. After World War II, so far in the entire Taiwan only Kaohsiung （Ciaotou） Sugar Refinery and Hualien (Guangfu) Sugar Factory didn’t use the name of the town they are located as their title. Instead, they use a bigger range, the county, as their title. This is because using a bigger range name will help people to remember more easily.
