The Parasitoid Wasp Feeding Center east building was built in 1972, and the west building was built in 1988. The Parasitoid Wasp Feeding Center was officially established in 1984 in flat roof construction form and was constructed as reinforced concrete buildings. The Parasitoid Wasp Feeding Center mainly breeds Trichogramma egg parasitic wasps, which Taiwan Sugar Corporation began to experiment mass propagation after the World War II, then applying the wasps in sugarcane borer pest-control around 1970. To feed the Trichogramma egg parasitic wasp, rice moths are raised and fed with brown rice and then are fed to the wasps after the moths spawn, producing Trichogramma egg parasitic wasp’s patch. Applying the Trichogramma egg parasitic wasps has a good effect on the sugarcane borer pest-control, and it greatly reduces the use of pesticides and environmental pollution. Thus, through professional regulation, this method began to be pervasively promoted to be used in corn borer pest-control and the Trichogramma egg parasitic wasps have fairly high quality. Aside from the main application, raising the wasps also corporates with the transition of the sightseeing sugar factory, thus producing sightseeing featured products.
