This place used to be the office of Guangfu Material Area, worker’s union, and government ethics. Many filmmakers and directors have appointed this place as a setting for film making. Its beautiful roof is made out of cement tiles that are slanted on 4 sides.
The interior was designed with traversing ventilating windows (not double sash casement windows). The outdoor walls use grate bricks for ventilation, and slanted wooden pillars were added around the house to strengthen its support.
It resists both typhoons and earthquakes while being a unique Japanese-style building. It is now the “Granny’s Restaurant,” which serves aboriginal cuisines.
