The repair center we see now was the office of Transportation Section in the early days. When Taiwan Sugar Corp. built modernized special sugar refinery factories in 1987 (Beigang Sugar Factory and Hualien Sugar Factory), its machinery repair center that was used from the Japanese Colonial Era was abandoned and relocated to its current location.
The repair center is mainly responsible for the operation, repairing and maintenance of the factory, repairing damaged items, and producing spare parts. Now it is the place for the sugar manufacturing DIY experience of the “Sugar Cane classroom,” which provides an interactive experience for visitors, enabling them to gain related knowledge on the sugar industry and its culture.
