The sugar industry was the largest industry in Taiwan in the Japanese Colonial Era. During WW2, sugar factories across the island were bombed by ally bombers. Given that Nanzhou Sugar Factory was located in a remote location and it was not convenient for reinforcement, TSC bricks were made by nearby brickyards for its rebuild, thus making it the only brick-built sugar factory in Taiwan.
TSC Brick Trail (made with about 700 TSC bricks) was paved using bricks from Wubian Farm buildings of Nanzhou Sugar Factory after it was demolished in September 2009. The trail now sits quietly in front of Pingtung Sugar Industry Cultural Museum.
