When Qiaotou Sugar Factory was founded in 1903, oxen were used to pull wagons on tracks. Starting from 1907, sugar trains were introduced into the sugar manufacturing operation and have become a signature of the industrial railway in the agricultural villages of Taiwan since then.
Within Qiaotou area, there are mainly 5 sugar railway routes. Back then, sugar railway and TRA Western Trunk Line shared the same station. The sugar railway repair depot located at the west part of the factory area was added due to the transpiration demand of the industrial railway and served to repair sugar trains.
